Dear Reader,
With Issue 22 of the 3rd Thursday Newsletter, I think about the day when I first hit send on Issue 1, pushing this rag out into the world.
At the time I hoped that, like a kite, it would lift off into the wind on its own. I imagined I would stand in awe, holding the string, watching it soar on its own accord. Obviously I was (and still am) naive.
Although it didn’t take off like I envisioned, it has been my monthly labor of love. It’s an opportunity to hold up to the world the events I follow in the (mostly literary) art world that makes our South Sound such an amazingly rich place to live.
A lot has changed in my personal life since that first issue; my own literary pursuits have evolved and my life has become ever fuller, but I continue my commitment to see this kite fly.

Creative Colloquy is all about “building relationships based on mutual admiration of the written word” and an example of this is the Literary Reading and Open Mic events hosted each month, on the third Monday. This month, on November 21, is being held at Pint & Pie. Hope to see you there, and your work showcased on the website!
Blue Cactus Press has a book launch event coming up this Friday, November 18. Unearthing Our Roots Book Launch is being held at Parable at 7pm. Krista R. Pérez, author of UNEARTHING OUR ROOTS, will give a short reading, followed by a guided, small group exercise in relationship and community building during the event. Guests are asked to please RSVP using the ticket link in the event details or here.
As a Blue Cactus Press Patron, I received my free copy in the mail yesterday and am so excited to read Pérez’s work! Become a BCP Member and get many other member benefits as well!
One of the organizations I support is AID NW - Advocates for Immigrants in Detention Northwest. AIDNW is dedicated to helping those immigrants who have been detained at the Northwest Detention Center (NWDC) in Tacoma. In addition to being an advocate - a voice for those who don’t have one - AIDNW gives these immigrants a touch of humanity during a very difficult period for them and their families.
Support AIDNW on Giving Tuesday!

Wild Rose & Other Poems Sung by the Window, to be published in April 2023, is a collection of poems which revolve around stages of grief and the healing process. Begun in April of this year as an ode to my Mom, the poems encompass both feelings of loss from death and miracles of life from our memories of those who have passed away.
The personal experience of writing these poems has informed the stages of my grief; I hope that the poems can inspire the reader to reflect on their own emotional growth through this shared experience.
